Employment Pass (EP): mandatory for all foreign nationals wishing to work in Singapore.
Foreigners are considered resident if living in Singapore 183 days or more in a calendar year. Both resident and non-resident tax payers are liable only for income sourced in Singapore. Income derived abroad is exempt.
Residents Income tax: progressive up to 20% of taxable income.
Non-resident Income Tax: flat rate 15% without personal allowances or progressive up to 20%, whichever is higher. Exemption: no tax is due on income from employment not exceeding 60 days in any calendar year.
Exemption for Foreign Nationals. For Singaporean nationals the CPF contribution rate, for employer is 17% and employee is 20 on based on a monthly salary ceiling of SGD 6,000 for both the employer and employee.
