Non Residents, working in the country for a foreign employer for less than 183 days in any financial year, are liable only for their Luxembourg income.

Residents, working in the country for 183 days or more are liable for their income worldwide.

Tax Rates

Income and related taxes: progressive up to 40%.

Obligatory National Social Security contributions for Pension Insurance (16%), Health Insurance (6.10%) and Dependency Insurance (1.40%), calculated on taxable income up to a yearly maximum of EUR 115,260.

The income retention depends amongst others on the duration of the assignment, contract rate, marital status and taxation and social security agreements between Luxembourg and the foreign nationals' country.
