Residence Permit: mandatory for foreign workers employed in Kuwait. Issued by Department of Immigration
Government Medical Insurance: required for all residents in Kuwait. Cost: KWD 50 per year.
Identity cards (Civil ID), mandatory and issued by Public Authority for Civil Information after a residence permit is issued. Must be carried at all times.
No income taxes are currently imposed on individuals in Kuwait.
Kuwaiti nationals: employer’s contribution 11% and employee’s contributions 8% of monthly salary, up to a ceiling of KD 2,750 per month.
Foreign nationals: no social charges.
The income retention depends amongst others on the duration of the assignment and the contract rate.
