No Entry Visa for foreign nationals from Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei-Darussalam, Burundi, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Jamaica, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, St Lucia, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Visitors from these countries are issued visitors’ passes at the point of entry.
No Entry Visa for stays up to 30 days for nationals from Malaysia and South Africa.
Referred Visa required for nationals from Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Mali, North Korea, Palestine, Senegal, Somalia, Syria and Tajikistan. Applications to be submitted to the Director of Immigration Service, Nairobi.
Entry Visa for all other foreign nationals issued either at the port of entry or in the country of origin.

Work Permit mandatory for all foreign nationals wishing to work in Kenya.
Residence permit: issued by the Kenyanization Bureau of the Immigration Department to foreign nationals who intend to work in Kenya.
Non Residents working in Kenya for less than 183 days in any financial year are liable only for their Kenyan income.
Residents working in the country for 183 days or more or present in the country for an average of 122 days or more in that year and in the two preceding years are liable for their income worldwide.
Income tax: progressive up to 30% above KES 466,704.
National Social Security Fund (NSSF): 5% of gross salary with employers and employees required to pay up to a maximum monthly amount of KSH 200.
National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF): levied on salaries above KSH 1,000/month. Progressive from a minimum of KSH 30 to a maximum monthly contribution of KSH 320.
The income retention depends amongst others on the duration of the assignment, contract rate, marital status and taxation and social security agreements between Kenya and the foreign nationals' country.
