Tax Rates

Progressive up to 17%

Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF): maximum contribution is HKD 15,000/year or HKD 1,250/month

Both employer and employee have to contribute 5% of the gross salary (maximum base for the contribution is HKD 25,000/month).

Exemption to MPF for foreign nationals working in Hong Kong for less than 13 months, or who are covered by approved overseas retirement schemes.

The income retention depends amongst others on the duration of the assignment, contract rate, marital status and taxation and social security agreements between Hong Kong and the foreign nationals' country.
