In Belgium, one may choose to be employed or self-employed, to work through their own PSC or to become an employee and a shareholder of our company.
With respect to local legislation, all of the above solutions are compliant and targeted at different contractors with different expectations. A crucial element of our business is to adapt to our clients’ needs, hence our offer is not limited to one or two solutions.
As a brief overview, being employed is the simplest option with the lowest net retention, however compulsory for contractors without a university degree or non-EU/ EFTA nationals.
Self-employment is open to those who have a degree and are EU/ EFTA nationals, offering a higher net retention because of the difference in the social security and tax charges.
Working through a contractor’s PSC offers an even higher net retention but has some additional requirements, like a second non-resident director and the responsibility of being a company director itself.
Our Hybrid solution is designed for all EU/ EFTA nationals who do not intend to live in Belgium for less than nine months or for longer than two years. It offers the highest net income retention possible but comes with even more restrictions. The choice is for the contractor to make, once they are eligible.
